Four Hearts with Restraint and Reverse
The Play
Two couples of lovers and a postman. An impossible heritage, an isolated island and the formula of the eternal youth. eternal happiness, also? Inmortal love? maybe yes, maybe not or maybe the opposite. Because everything is possible in “Cuatro corazones con freno y marcha atrás”, one of the most popular and hilarious comedies of the genius Enrique Jardiel Poncela. In “Cuatro corazones con freno y marcha atrás” we find and explosive and philosophical script, here it is everything that really matters: love, truth, beauty, but also the pass of time, the loss of illusions, and death. But, over all of these, for Jardiel it is a chaotic adventure with no sense that makes you laugh, because laughing is a very serious thing.
